CCAHA American Academy in Rome Fellow Announced

    • Minah Song

Minah Song, a paper conservator at CCAHA, was chosen to be the recipient of our first American Academy in Rome fellowship.

Minah’s project will entail studying how Asian objects were historically collected by the Vatican Museums as well as examining  methods of conservation treatment conducted on Asian objects in these collections.  She will also be investigating why Asian objects were placed within parts of the ethnological collection rather than within an Asian art department,  the designation prevailing in most American museums since the early 20th century.

The mission of the American Academy in Rome, founded in 1894, is to foster the pursuit of advanced research and independent study in the fine arts and humanities.
