Bruce Springsteen boxed set showcases CCAHA's digitization services

    • Bruce Springsteen The Promise notebook facsimile

A creative use of digitized work, the Bruce Springsteen album released on November 16 includes an 80-page spiral notebook containing facsimiles of Springsteen's written lyrics and photographs.  Many of the pages come from scans taken while Springsteen's original lyric notebooks were at CCAHA for treatment, imaging, and housing last year.

Springsteen wrote lyrics for the album, "The Promise (The Lost Session: Darkness on the Edge of Town)", in 1976, when he was still a young man figuring out the next move in his career.  The pages included in the notebook facsimile offer insight into Springsteen's creative process, as alternate lyrics, set lists, scribbles, and coffee stains are all captured in CCAHA's high-quality scans.

For more information on Springsteen and the newly-released album, visit Springsteen's website or read "What Springsteen Kept to Himself", which appeared in the New York Times on November 4, 2010.
