2017 marks 40 years of CCAHA. Every Friday, we'll share the articles, photos, and recollections that tell the story of how CCAHA became a world-renowned leader in conservation science.

This 1995 article from the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology newsletter discusses CCAHA’s treatment of a large watercolor by Mary Louise Baker. The watercolor “illustrates a theoretical restoration of the throne room at the Palace of Merenptah at Memphis,” a site that was excavated by the Museum in the 1920s.

1995 was not the only time that CCAHA treated Baker’s remarkable archaeological illustrations. A 2010 Art-i-facts article details other treatments, including the one pictured above.
