Conservation Center - for Art and Historic Artifacts

CCAHA specializes in the treatment of art and historic artifacts on paper and provides preservation education, training, and consultation. Established in 1977, CCAHA is the largest nonprofit regional conservation lab in the country.

Senior Conservation Assistant

Anna Krain, Senior Conservation Assistant at the Conservation Center for Art and Historic Artifacts (CCAHA), received a Certificate from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in 1987 and a BFA from the University of the Arts in 1993.  Before coming to CCAHA, Ms. Krain was a Technician Assistant to the Curator of Prints and Drawings at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA).  She was responsible for the rehousing and recording of the inventory for this extensive collection.  Over the years, she has continued to work on-site at PAFA repairing the archives and preparing works of art on paper for exhibition.  She has done similar work on-site for the Barnes Foundation.  

Ms. Krain has coordinated the conservation treatment and housing of the materials in the Ben Franklin 300th Anniversary exhibition at the National Constitution Center and for the traveling BF300 exhibition materials.  She has also coordinated and executed the treatment and exhibition housing for a large collection of print items and ephemera for the Newseum in Washington, D.C.   Ms. Krain has been a member of CCAHA’s laboratory staff since 1987.

Currently, Ms. Krain is the Senior Conservation Assistant for Collections Care, overseeing and tracking large institutional treatment and housing projects. As a lab staff leader, she supervises and mentors technician staff working on large batch treatments.
