Fellows/Interns Staff: Samantha Sheesley
NEA Fellow
Samantha Sheesley, NEA Fellow in Paper Conservation, received her B.F.A from Temple University’s Tyler School of Art and her M.A. in Conservation from Buffalo State College.
Ms. Sheesley prepares condition reports, treatment estimates and proposals, and executes conservation treatments for works of art on paper and archival materials. She contributes to the profession by speaking at various conferences regionally and nationally. Prior to her fellowship at CCAHA, Samantha worked in conservation labs at the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington, DC; the Museum of Modern Art in New York, NY; the Benaki Museum in Athens, Greece; the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Belmont Hills Conservation Studio. Ms. Sheesley has an interest in contemporary art and in the moral rights of artists. She researched and documented interviews with contemporary artists to illustrate their merit in diligent conservation practice. She will be speaking about the conservation treatment of a large, three-dimensional paper installation belonging to the Smithsonian American Art Museum’s Renwick Gallery during the 2008 AIC Annual Meeting in Denver, CO.
