Soyeon Choi, Senior Conservator, received her B.S. in chemistry at the Pohang University of Science and Technology and finished her master’s course work in oriental art history at the Ewha Womans University in Korea. She was a recipient of a three-year full scholarship from Samsung Foundation of Culture to study abroad in the field of art conservation. She received her M.A. and Certificate of Advanced Study in Conservation at the Art Conservation Department at Buffalo State, State University of New York. She has interned at the Ho-Am Art Museum in Korea; the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, VA; the Shelburne Farm and Archives, VT; and the Library of Congress, Washington D.C. She completed two one-year fellowships at CCAHA, funded by J.P. Getty Foundation and Andrew Mellon Foundation, prior to joining the staff.
Ms. Choi works in the area of assessment and treatment on fine art and archival materials. Working at CCAHA since 2000, she has participated in numerous projects. Notable group efforts include: Colonial manuscripts from the New York State Archives, Revolutionary War documents from the New Jersey State Archives, and the Christian ABC book from Ephrata Cloister. Notable individual items for care include: U.S. Constitution annotated by John Dickenson, City Charter by William Penn, Pennsylvania Charter by King Charles II, and the will of Francis Scott Key.
