Fundraising Assistance

We help institutions find funding for their preservation and conservation goals.

Often, smaller institutions don't have the capacity to identify and apply for funding to meet their conservation goals. That's where we come in. We have staff who can provide advice on a variety of funding opportunities and assist with grant-writing for organizations.

In the past five years, we've helped institutions raise more than $5 million to support their conservation and preservation goals.

We help institutions write grants to the National Endowment for the Humanities, National Endowment for the Arts, the Institute for Museum and Library Services, and other regional and national sources for projects that would involve CCAHA.

How can we help you?

If you are interested in discussing your organization’s collection funding needs and how we can help, email Director of Business Development Daphne Mayer.

We have worked with institutions to prepare these types of grant applications:

  • NEH Preservation Assistance Grants: Source for needs assessment surveys, preservation plans, emergency preparedness, small environmental improvements, and collection-level surveys.

  • NEH Sustaining Cultural Heritage Collections: Source for major environmental improvements.

  • NEH Humanities Collections and Reference Resources: Source for making intellectual content accessible (cataloging, conservation treatment, digitization, etc.).

  • IMLS Museums for America: Source for museum-based collection stewardship projects, including cataloging, collection surveys, conservation treatment, digitization, and some environmental improvements.

  • IMLS Inspire!: Similar to Museums for America but for small museums

  • Collections Assessment for Preservation Program (CAP): CAP assessments for museums offer a study of all the institution’s collections, buildings, and building systems, as well as its policies and procedures relating to collections care.

Save America’s Treasures (National Parks Service)

  • Save America’s Treasures: Provides funding for preservation and/or conservation work on nationally significant historic collections and properties.

  • NEA Grants for Arts Projects: Source for art collection management, conservation, and preservation activities.

  • NHPRC Archival Projects: Source for creating and promoting access to American historical records through digitization and online finding aids.

  • Art Conservation Project: Provides funding for conservation treatment of historically or culturally significant works of art.
